Hey there everyone! Happy Friday!
How has your week been going? Here in Boston, we had quite the snow storm yesterday, at least a foot of snow I would say!
Thankfully because of it my husband got half the day off from work and was able to be home with us for the afternoon! Even though I despise the snow L and I did get outside to have some fun playing in it before it was too deep! We only lasted a few minutes though, as it was pretty chilly. I think 19 degrees. Ugh!
Truthfully, the winter is really starting to get to me. I have always been a summer person and I live for the hot, humid, sticky weather that July and August bring. Right now, I am itching for those first signs of spring… birds chirping, buds on the trees, flowers popping up through the ground. Did the groundhog see his shadow?? Will winter be here even longer?
Okay, now back to normal. Friday favorites! This is the first weekend in months we have had ZERO plans! NOTHING! Neither of us have to work and we don’t have to be anywhere. I am hoping we can get one of our bathrooms painted, enjoy some family time together, and maybe get L out to play at one of the indoor playgrounds nearby. We haven’t taken him to one yet but I think he would really love being able to run around and climb on whatever he wants! Hopefully they won’t be too busy with older kids. He doesn’t understand yet how to stay out of their way and usually, that turns into a tantrum haha!
Hearing our baby boys first words!
Sort of. L started walking early, around 9 months or just after. Because of this I think his words and babbling has come a little late, compared to some of our friends. He is so focused on doing things that he just hasn’t tried yet to talk and really hadn’t been babbling at all. My husband and I, especially my husband, are both on the quieter side as well so I am sure that doesn’t help. But anyway, last weekend we finally noticed L starting to really babble and heard his first “dada!” Now, we try to get him to say it all the time and I finally caught it on a video on my phone! I of course have been drilling “mumma” into him as well, and I’m hoping I’ll get to hear those sweet words soon!
Overnight Oats in a Peanut Butter Jar
Ah, an old fav! I love overnight oats but rarely make them anymore. L and I tend to share the same breakfast every day, either Banana Zucchini Pancakes or peanut butter toast so unfortunately, overnight oats just were somehow forgotten. The other day though we had an almost empty PB jar and I decided to whip up a batch! This one was half a mashed banana, a few spoonfuls of pumpkin puree, handful of dry oats, 1/4c milk, 1/4c plain yogurt, cinnamon, 1/2 scoop Vega Vanilla protein powder, and some hemp hearts. I also added some of L’s uneaten berries from breakfast.
I love that overnight oats are fast, easy, and ready to go for busy mornings! Even though L had already finished his breakfast he was more then happy to scarf down about half of this, so I think we’ll be seeing oats more often in our future.
I’m obsessed with this trend right now! I have been seeing everyone wearing slides and cannot wait for the snow to melt and weather to get warmer so I can justify a few new pairs! I love this cream pair so much, but also must have a black pair to go with all the leggings, of course.
I am not a regular Yogi and haven’t been to a class since September. An hour long workout is just not in the cards with a busy kid at home and long workdays. But! I am trying to change that! Tuesday night my workday ended early due to a different snow storm so I was able to get to a class and back home before L was even home from my mother in law’s! I was the only student who showed up so I had all the one on one attention too! It was wonderful and something I need to make happen more often!
As a dental hygienist, body pain is something that we deal with regularly. When I exercise and lift weights it tends to make my body super tight incredibly fast and yoga really helps to make everything feel better! It is good “me time,” and a break from our crazy busy life. Lately, I think because of the weather, I have been feeling a little down. Things like this, just deciding to take time for myself when I need it, totally help!
Do you have any great weekend plans or will you get to take it easy as well? Do you enjoy yoga? Have a great one!! Xox Annie
