Car shopping sure wasn’t as fun as I expected it to be! Especially when it was 17 degrees outside but felt like -1!! But alas, my husband and I bundled up while my father came to watch L and set out to find the perfect vehicle.
Like I mentioned Friday, my lease on my Toyota Rav-4 is up in a few weeks. It has been a good little car but the seats are quite uncomfortable and it is SUPER noisy inside. I remember when L was little he would be asleep in the car we’d hit one little bump in the road and I would cringe as the entire car shook and everything would clang around. Nap automatically ruined.
Several of my friends have recently bought the Kia Sorrento so that was on the top of my list to see. We went to a local Kia dealership and had an okay experience, test driving just one car before the salesman basically shook our hands, congratulated us, and ran off to the finance department. My husband and I looked at each other totally confused! How did this happen?!? We both sat there wondering if we should just buy the car because it was a good price but the only car we’d seen, or tell him we weren’t ready to purchase. We walked out after some haggling back and forth and we are so happy we did.
After that we went to Carmax and had a great experience. We test drove a newer Kia Sorrento that was only a little more money and half the miles. It didn’t have all the features we were looking for (heated seats, hello!) so they offered to transfer exactly what we wanted from Ohio, for free, for the same price. WHAT!? Sold. So, in two weeks I should have our new car and I am super excited! The Sorrento is bigger and more comfortable in general and just feels like an all around safer car for our family.
Anywayyyyy other then that we had a fine and dandy weekend. L had a BLAST with my dad hanging out at home and it was so nice to see them enjoy more quality time together. My dad and I also have made a commitment to meet halfway between us for dinner at least once per month. We only live about 1.5 hours from each other and it’s kind of pathetic how little I see him. I’m excited for some more father daughter time!!
Anyone else ever think it’s hilarious when your husband dresses the kids? We couldn’t stop laughing at L in his belly shirt sweatshirt my husband picked for him. I’m pretty sure it’s a 6 month size!
Sunday morning we woke up and had a leisurely morning at home. I made a delicious new pancake recipe that I will be sharing soon, but it is full of healthy stuff like whole wheat flour, yogurt, and no eggs for those with allergies! We topped them with all sorts of goodies including bananas, nuts, and berries. L and I ate them right up and didn’t feel that yucky sugar rush traditional pancakes can give.
It is still too cold to go outside so we played around the house and laid in the sun a lot! I just love this picture, L is obsessed with our kitty right now and chases her all around the house. We’re trying to teach him gentle petting and cuddling but for the most part he is great with her! No scratches yet.
Mid afternoon I baked these muffins for L in an attempt to sneak more veggies into him. He ate three for dinner with yogurt and I recommend the recipe to anyone struggling to get their kids to eat veggies!
Also, day light savings is a fun new experience once you have a kid, huh?! L decided to boycott his nap all day and then was ready to crash HARD by 2:30. He was super cranky so we put him to bed at 5:30 and he was out like a light. Unfortunately, 30 minutes later he was up and ready to party. Overtired babies are the worst! It took a little work but he did eventually fall back asleep and we finished off the weekend with ice cream on the couch, writing this post, and bed early. The best!
I hope you had a great weekend!
