Happy Monday! How was your Easter weekend? Ours was pretty great! My husband was off for Good Friday which is always nice to have him around a little bit extra. The weather was also beautiful and we got to enjoy plenty of time outside. Easter Sunday it was even in the 80’s!
Friday we took it kind of easy. My husband golfed in the morning while L and I went to meet my girlfriend and her new little baby girl who is 4 weeks old! L kept trying to stick his hand in her stroller to touch her face and was waving “hi” like crazy. So cute! Seeing him so interested in a little tiny babe doesn’t help the baby fever going on over here!
After we left the park and came home L decided to skip his nap, something that’s been happening more frequently. He’s only a year and a half old so I don’t think he’s ready for no nap yet but when do kids stop napping?! Is this the age they drop it? The afternoon was obviously pretty miserable as he fought his way through to bedtime.
Saturday we woke up to 50 degree temps and we set out for a long morning walk, one of my favorite things to do with my family. Right by our house is a beautiful rail trail/walking path and we walked for probably 4 miles while chatting and sipping our iced coffee. It was so nice and a perfect way to catch up and reconnect with my husband! L just chilled out in the stroller the whole time, taking in all the sights. After we got home L thankfully napped and then we spent the rest of the day outside enjoying the sun and grilling some food! Perfect weekend day!
Sunday morning I got up at about 4 to get some blog and bookkeeping work done. L of course must’ve known that I was behind so he decided to wake up at 5:15 as well. What the heck?! He rolled around in his crib for a while which gave me enough time to finish up a few blog posts and hide his Easter eggs around the house.
I wasn’t sure how L would feel about hunting for eggs. We thought he wouldn’t care at all and that he’d get distracted but he totally surprised us!
I only hid about 5 eggs but he hunted them out with our guidance and ate up all his Annie’s Cheddar Bunnies. Like I shared the other day, he didn’t get too much candy for Easter but he didn’t mind. Cheddar bunnies are the best way to his little heart!
After his egg hunt and breakfast we went out for another long walk, enjoying the perfect morning before the heat set in. We stopped at a park to play and realized L was way overdressed in long sleeves and pants, turning beat red after running around for only a few minutes! Time to pull out all the summer clothes!
Once home we got ready for Greaster (Greek Easter) with my step mom’s family. L had fun running around and watching the other kids but wouldn’t let me out of his sight. I think he felt overwhelmed with all the people there. I was looking forward to seeing family and mingling with everyone but I mostly stuck next to L. Fine by me and next year will be better!
This year it’s been really fun enjoying all of L’s firsts, seeing holidays and new experiences through his eyes. I feel like last year when L was so little and we were so sleep deprived we just powered through all events and holidays.
It’s a blast seeing the excitement and joy on his face when he does something new, like finding an Easter Egg. He loved showing off what he found and brings each one over to us to see. It’s the sweetest thing and best feeling seeing life through his eyes!
How did you celebrate Easter? Any tips for a nap skipping 1.5 year old?
